Processing of personal data
Data protection is an important concern for GeoSphere Austria. Personal data is therefore processed exclusively on the basis of European and Austrian data protection and telecommunications regulations.
In specific individual cases, in addition to the provisions cited above, a contract or other legal obligation may also be considered. If you have given your consent to the processing of your data, this is the basis and the limit for the relevant activities.

Use of entered personal data
If you use functions on our website that require you to enter personal data (example: earthquake report or severe weather report), by entering the data you consent to us using this data electronically for the purpose for which it was entered.
If you contact us via a web form or by e-mail, the data you provide will be temporarily stored to process your request and in case of follow-up questions.
Use of automated generated data
Every time our homepage is accessed and every time files made available by our web server are retrieved, certain technical data is stored. However, such storage only takes place in pseudonymous (indirectly personal) form, so that it is not possible for us to draw conclusions about a person from this data. The following data is logged: IP address of the retrieving computer, file name of the retrieved file(s), date and time of retrieval, amount of data transferred, status message regarding the retrieval and information about the web browser used. The storage of this data serves to ensure the security of our website and to be able to detect and track attacks on our website or its misuse.
Security notice
We use comprehensive technical and organizational measures to ensure that personal data is not accessible to unauthorised third parties. However, we cannot guarantee complete data security when communicating by e-mail, so we recommend sending confidential information by post.
Your rights
Right to disclosure
You have the right to free information about the type and extent of the processing of your personal data. To do so, please contact datenschutz@geosphere.at.
In order to avoid misuse, however, we must ask you to identify yourself to us in an appropriate form, such as by submitting a copy of a valid photo ID. To ensure that information is provided quickly and effectively, we ask you to provide as much specific information as possible in your request in accordance with the obligation to cooperate.
GeoSphere Austria will respond to your request for information in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR immediately and at the latest within one month of receipt. In exceptional cases, this period can be extended. In this case, you will be informed accordingly. To ensure that your personal data is made available exclusively to you, the information will usually be delivered to your own address (RSa letter or corresponding information technology services).
Further rights of those affected
You can assert your right to rectification, restriction of processing, objection to processing, deletion of your data or data portability at any time. To do so, please contact datenschutz@geosphere.at.
Options for complaints
If you believe that your data protection rights have been violated, please contact our data protection officer using the contact details provided above. You also have the option of filing a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority dsb@dsb.gv.at.
